About

Dianella tasmanica, the Tasman flax-lily, is an evergreen, long-lived perennial to around 1.2 m with tough, grass-like leaves and branched sprays of violet-blue, 2 cm flowers with prominent yellow stamens in summer, followed by shining violet-blue berries. One of the most ornamental and garden-worthy dianellas for a sunny or partly shaded mild border.

About the genus

Dianella are rhizomatous, evergreen perennials with leathery, sword-shaped leaves and sprays of small, starry blue flowers followed by long-lasting blue or purple berries. Popular as clump-forming ground-cover plants in mild gardens and as container plants.
