About
Dendrobium crepidatum, the shoe-lip dendrobium, is a deciduous epiphytic orchid producing slender, pendant canes to 40 cm long. Flowers appear from nodes on leafless canes in spring white or pale pink with a purple-tipped, shoe-like lip and yellow throat and are produced in considerable profusion along the length of each cane. A charming and free-flowering orchid for a cool to intermediate greenhouse.
About the genus
Dendrobium are one of the largest genera of orchids, comprising epiphytic and terrestrial species from tropical and subtropical Asia, Australia and the Pacific. They produce elongated, cane-like or club-shaped pseudobulbs bearing linear to ovate leaves, and racemes of showy flowers from nodes along the stems, mainly in spring and summer. Dendrobium span a huge range of sizes, habits and cultural requirements.
