About the genus

Cyathea consists of evergreen tree ferns, although they can lose their leaves in colder climates. These ferns develop an upright trunk from the rhizome, which is surrounded by fibrous roots. At the top, they produce a rosette of large, pinnately-divided fronds with scaly stems.
