About

Cornus x rutgersensis Stellar Pink ('Rutgan') is a robust shrub or small tree that can reach heights of up to 6 meters. It features green leaves during the summer months, which transition to a purplish-red hue in the fall. The plant produces abundant, slightly overlapping bracts that resemble petals, varying in color from pale pink to medium pink based on seasonal conditions. These bracts are grouped in sets of four surrounding clusters of greenish-yellow, sterile flowers. Following the flowering period, the plant generates seedless fruit.

About the genus

Cornus includes a variety of deciduous shrubs and trees, as well as prostrate, woody perennials, some featuring vibrant young stems. The small flowers appear in compact clusters, occasionally accompanied by prominent bracts. Several species display attractive foliage in the fall.
