Cornus kousa 'Sunsplash' is a compact shrub that reaches a height of up to 2.5 meters. In spring, its leaves emerge green with irregular golden yellow margins, which fade entirely to green by summer. During the fall, the foliage showcases a mix of yellow, red, and orange hues. In May and June, medium-sized white bracts encircle small central flowers, leading to the development of red, strawberry-like fruits in the autumn months. This plant grows slowly and maintains a tidy appearance throughout the seasons.
