About
Cornus kousa 'Copacabana' is a deciduous small tree or large shrub characterized by a conical form and oval leaves that have wavy margins. In spring, the foliage begins as a maroon-red hue, transitioning to a mid-green throughout the summer and finally displaying darker crimson red tones in late summer into autumn. In June, creamy-white bracts with a subtle pink edge emerge, leading to the development of pink berries resembling strawberries in the fall.
About the genus
Cornus includes a variety of deciduous shrubs and trees, as well as prostrate, woody perennials, some featuring vibrant young stems. The small flowers appear in compact clusters, occasionally accompanied by prominent bracts. Several species display attractive foliage in the fall.
