About

Cornus kousa 'Akatsuki' is a compact, spreading tree that reaches approximately 4 meters in height. Its bark starts as a gray hue and transitions to a coppery olive-green as it sheds. This cultivar is a variegated form of another variety. The leaves are arranged oppositely, featuring a mix of green and creamy white margins, and display pinkish tones that intensify in cooler weather. In early summer, it produces a small cluster of greenish-white flowers, which are surrounded by four bracts that range from pale pink to white. Following the flowering period, the foliage may exhibit deeper colors, and it can also bear raspberry-like fruits.
