About
Cornus florida 'Cherokee Brave' is a slow-growing, deciduous tree or large shrub that typically develops a rounded, irregular form, with branches that droop slightly as they age. The leaves are initially red and have an oval shape, transitioning to a dark green in the summer and later displaying vibrant shades of scarlet red and violet purple in the fall. In spring to early summer, this tree produces pale pink to white flowers, each accompanied by four bracts, which are then succeeded by clusters of red berries resembling strawberries in the autumn.

Cornus includes a variety of deciduous shrubs and trees, as well as prostrate, woody perennials, some featuring vibrant young stems. The small flowers appear in compact clusters, occasionally accompanied by prominent bracts. Several species display attractive foliage in the fall.
