About
Citrus hystrix is an evergreen shrub that can reach heights of up to 4 meters. It features unique, glossy dark green leaves that are divided into two sections. Throughout the year, it produces fragrant white flowers measuring around 2 centimeters in diameter, which give way to limes with bumpy skins. Both the foliage and the fruit are integral to various South East Asian dishes. For optimal growth, Thai limes thrive in a cool or temperate greenhouse or conservatory, and they should be relocated outdoors during the summer season.
About the genus
Citrus consists mainly of evergreen shrubs and trees, which are often armed with spines. They feature simple, leathery leaves that release a pleasing fragrance, typically borne on winged petioles. The plants produce aromatic flowers that are usually white or have a hint of pink, which are succeeded by sizable, juicy fruits.
