About the genus

Ceratotheca consists of annuals or biennials characterized by either simple or lobed foliage. In late summer and early autumn, they produce spiky inflorescences bearing solitary, bell-shaped flowers resembling those of foxgloves, which emerge from the upper leaf axils.
