Calycanthus floridus 'Burgundy Spice' is a deciduous shrub that typically reaches heights of about 2.5 meters. This plant features oval, glossy dark green foliage that takes on reddish-purple hues when exposed to sunlight. In late spring or early summer, it produces fragrant orange-red flowers with slender, strap-like petals, which appear at the tips of short branchlets. After flowering, urn-shaped seed capsules develop. In autumn, the leaves transition to shades of red, orange, and yellow.

Cultivation
Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, will tolerate light shade but foliage colour and flowering are best in full sun. May suffer from frost damage in very cold winters
