About
Callicarpa Pearl Glam ('Nccx2') is a deciduous shrub that reaches a height of up to 1.6 meters. Its growth habit features stems that are either upright or arching, adorned with narrow, ovate leaves that are tapered and have slight serrations, showcasing a purple hue. During the summer months, clusters of small white flowers appear along the stems, which are succeeded by glossy, round purple berries in the autumn. These berries persist on the bare branches through the winter, complementing the plant's purple foliage.
About the genus
Callicarpa consists of shrubs that may be either evergreen or deciduous. They feature simple, opposite leaves and produce small flowers in shades of white, pink, or purple that cluster in the axils. These flowers give way to small fruits, which are often brightly colored. Planting multiple shrubs together enhances pollination, leading to better fruit production.

Care notes
- Cultivation
- Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Fruits best when grown in groups; at least two plants are needed to ensure pollination and berry production
- Pruning
- Pruning Group 6. Prune in early spring after the worst of the frosts have passed, annually removing a fifth of the older stem down to the ground to encourage new growth from the base
- Propagation
- Propagate by softwood cuttings in spring, or by semi-ripe cuttings with bottom heat in summer
- Pest resistance
- Generally pest-free
- Disease resistance
- May be susceptible to honey fungus (rarely)
