About

Aspidistra daibuensis 'Taiwan Stars' is a perennial plant that forms dense clumps and features long, broad, lance-shaped leaves with a glossy dark green appearance, occasionally adorned with light yellow speckles. In summer, it produces star-shaped flowers that are yellow-tinted with a purple-pink hue, emerging at the base of the plant, followed by the development of green berries. While commonly cultivated as an indoor plant, it can also thrive in garden settings in temperate climates, demonstrating a strong tolerance for both low light and dry conditions.

About the genus

Aspidistra are perennial plants that grow from rhizomes, characterized by their upright, leathery leaves which can be either elliptic or lanceolate in shape. Their flowers, which are brownish and not particularly noticeable, develop directly from the rhizome.
