Aesculus pavia is a sizable deciduous shrub, reaching heights of up to 5 meters, characterized by its rounded form and dense foliage of glossy dark green leaves, each composed of five slender leaflets. In early summer, it produces upright panicles of red flowers, which are elongated and typically do not open fully, measuring up to 15 centimeters long. The fruit is smooth in texture.
