About

Acer japonicum 'Attaryi' is a robust, upright deciduous shrub that can grow up to 12 meters tall. Its foliage consists of large, 7 to 9 lobed leaves that are finely dissected and deep green, with division extending nearly to the base of each leaf. In the fall, the leaves transform into vivid shades of purple-scarlet and flame-red. During spring, the tree produces small, purple-red flowers in subtle clusters, which are succeeded by winged fruits that are tinged with red.

About the genus

Acer consists of deciduous trees or sizable shrubs featuring pairs of leaves that are frequently palmately lobed. These plants produce small flowers that give way to distinctive winged fruits. Numerous species display vibrant autumn foliage, while certain varieties also exhibit decorative stems.
