About

Abies fraseri is a medium-sized conifer that can reach heights of up to 15 meters, characterized by its narrow, conical shape. The leaves are flattened and measure between 1 to 2 centimeters in length, displaying a glossy dark green on the upper side and two distinct white stripes beneath. These leaves grow densely along resinous branches. Its cylindrical cones, measuring 3.5 to 7 centimeters long, start off as dark purple and transition to brown as they mature, featuring bracts that extend downward, concealing the cone scales.

About the genus

Abies are evergreen coniferous trees that can reach significant heights. They feature whorled branches that support narrow, flattened leaves, typically having a whitish underside. The upper branches produce substantial cones that disintegrate while still attached to the tree.
